5.5 Low framerate (FPS)

5.12 Error message:
"TextMassegeParsemassegeCount>=MAXMASSAGES"
5.13 HUD and crosshairs are gone
5.14 No transparency at the models
5.1 Missing
graphic effects
Issue: The new graphic effects
(bump maps, gloss effects, etc.) are missing!
What should I do?
Solution: Check that the
opengl32.dll file is present in your half-life
folder. The mod needs this file to display the
new graphic effects. If the file is missing, copy
it from the paranoia\sdk folder to your half-life
folder. Without opengl32.dll in the Half-Life
folder, the new graphic effects will not be
available.
5.2 Error
message: "The specified video mode is not
supported!"
Issue: After launching the mod, I
receive the following message: "The
specified video mode is not supported!"
Solution: D3D and Software video
modes are NOT SUPPORTED in PARANOIA. The mod
works only in OpenGL mode with 32-bit colors.
Start the mod by running !Launch_game.bat file
located in the mod's folder.
5.3 Error
message: "This OpenGL mode is not
supported!"
Issue: After launching the mod, I
receive the following message: "This OpenGL
mode is not supported!"
Solution: The mod works only in
OpenGL mode with 32-bit colors. Start the mod by
running !Launch_game.bat file located in the
mod's folder.
5.4 Music
volume too loud
Issue: The volume is too loud, but
I can't change it in the Audio tab.
Solution: Launch the mod and go to
Options > Multiplayer > Advanced > MP3
Volume. Change the values from 1.0 to 0.1 and
click OK to apply.
5.5 Low
framerate (FPS)
Issue: I have a high-end system,
but my framerate is too low (10-14 FPS)! How can
I improve my framerate?
Solution: Update your video
drivers and adjust the graphical settings in your
video card control panel to improve the display
of applications running in OpenGL video mode.
5.6 Anti-cheat
services prevent me from playing online
Issue: After installing PARANOIA,
I am not allowed to play online with my
multiplayer HL mods. The anti-cheat services call
me a cheater! What is going on?
Solution: The anti-cheat services
react to the presence of the opengl32.dll file in
the half-life folder. Remove the file to solve
the issue, but don't forget to put it back when
you want to play PARANOIA.
5.7 Console
commands and parameters
Question: I want to tweak the new
graphic effects. Which console commands and
parameters should I use to control the new
graphic effects?
Answer:
- gl_renderer PARANOIA renderer for all the new
OpenGL effects
- gl_detailtex detailed textures
- gl_bump bump mapping
- gl_specular gloss mapping
- gl_grayscale gray scale
- gl_blurtest motion blur (parameters from 1 to
20)
- gl_dynlight dynamic lighting
- subtitles subtitles
5.8 Dynamic
shadows
Question: Where are the dynamic
shadows in PARANOIA?
Answer: Unfortunately dynamic
shadows are not supported by our mod's renderer.
5.9 Modding
the mod
Question: I want to make an
additional level for your mod. How can I do it?
Answer: Documentation, FGDs and
new compilers is coming soon. Keep watching our
news page!
5.10 Compatibility
with Half-Life: Source
Question: Does the mod work with
Half-Life: Source?
Answer: No, it's dont work with
HL: Source. The PARANOIA is working with
Half-Life (GoldScr engine) only. You need
Half-Life v.1.1.1.1 (or higher) to play PARANOIA
without issues.
5.11 Error
message: "windows cannot find 'hl.exe"
Issue: After launching the mod
with sortcut or !launch.bat, I receive the
following message: "windows cannot find
'hl.exe' make sure you typed the name in
correctly, and the please try again."
Solution: The game can't find the
hl.exe because you install it into the wrong
folder! When you run the installer and change the
directory to point to your Half-Life folder the
installer creates another Half-Life folder in
your Half-Life folder. To solve the problem
uninstall PARANOIA, then reinstall it and only
point the directory to
\Steam\steamapps\<your_account_name>. Then
the installer will say "Do you want to use
the existing Half-life folder?". Say yes and
all will install fine in the right folder. Also
you always can edit the install path manually
without "Browse" function.
5.12 Error
message:
"TextMassegeParsemassegeCount..."
Issue: When I click on the new
game it begins to load the game and then write
this:
"tmessage:TextMassegeParsemassegeCount>=MAXMASSAGES"
Solution: Your version of
Half-Life is outdated. You need version 1.1.1.0
or higher to play Paranoia without issues. Try to
update your Half-Life.
5.13 HUD
and crosshairs are gone
Issue: When I went to play the
game, the HUD and crosshair are gone. How to get
it back?
Solution: Try to use console
command "hud_draw 1" in the console
window. If it will not help you should reinstall
the PARANOIA. Do not forget to make a backup copy
of your game save files!
5.14 No
transparency at the models
Issue: There is no transparency at
the models in the game. The trees is black and
the ballistic face shield is non transparent too.
How to fix it?
Solution: Download THIS FIX and unzip files to your
Half-Life folder. It will help to add
transparency to the models.
